You learn something new every day!

Okay, so now I decided to do a blog.  I really didn't like the idea of it, but I'm starting to warm up to the idea.
So..... for the sake of friends and family that will not be going with me I will try to keep it sort of updated.  I don't know yet who exactly I will be biking with. Or where exactly. Or even when exactly! But plans and supplies are slowly coming together.

Why am I taking this dangerous trip?  Hey, it isn't any more dangerous than driving a car anywhere.  More people die in car accidents than while bike touring!
Anyway, I want to live my life without regrets. To come to the end of my life, and feel that I had done what I could. That I hadn't wasted any of it.
A book I read recently explains this. In "A Million Miles in a Thousand Years" Donald Miller talks about the stories we are living.  In the beginning he makes the point that if we watch a movie about a man working all his life to buy a Volvo, we aren't touched at the end. We don't even think it is a good movie. The movies we remember, and are touched by are the ones that involve risk - great risk.  If that makes a good movie, it would make a good life, too. I do know God wants us to risk all for Him, so that is what I plan on trying to do with my life.
This bike trip is one of the steps to where He is leading me. I am sure.

I like the blog. Although I haven't been able to figure out where you are going on your trip? If you come through Pueblo, CO, maybe a fellow blogger can help. Check out my BICYCLE TOURING section for route information, free lodging, food, etc when passing through.

Hey,
My girlfriend just completed a Virginia to Oregon tour on a very limited budget. She used warmshowers.org for free lodging, but mostly local churches. Almost any church will let you sleep in their church, regardless of your religion. Good luck and look forward to following your posts!:)
